Tree Frog Night

"A B&B that is beautiful, not cute. You drive off Washington 542 into a cedar forest, leaving behind the speedy jangle of city and highway to be enfolded in a realm of quiet beauty. It's like sitting on the forest floor - but with every comfort. My room at the Tree Frog Inn was not only immaculately clean and well-ordered, but artful and welcoming. Everything in it had clearly been carefully selected and thoughtfully placed. The room felt like an extension of the forest outside its beautiful, large windows. I felt invited to make full use of the amenities of the Inn and very much appreciated the fact that it is maintained with an authentic effort to honor the environment and operate with small footprint--no mysterious chemical cleaning and disinfectant odors and even a compost receptacle. I sipped wine by the creek, slept beautifully, and would happily have stayed much longer if I'd had time. I will definitely return."

in a silver cedar forest --
a full creek accompanying
a tree frog chorus

My love and I listen...
as spring symphony
dreams flow
and softly sounds
of breathing slow

in our grateful

Tree Frog Night Inn was the first green bed and breakfast eco-inn opened in Bellingham Whatcom County. Our goal is to create an elegant, authentic northwest experience for our guests offering traditional hospitality and quiet charm combined with all the modern amenities of luxury travel.

Our inn includes three unique, beautiful accommodations, both king suites and queen guestrooms, which are described in detail in the accommodations section of the site. As in a small boutique hotel, we provide personal service and thoughtful touches throughout the guest rooms and suites. We are here to suggest restaurants and activities, helping you experience the best the area has to offer.

Our bed and breakfast Inn was lovingly created and is operated sustainably. A guest wrote, ”I really felt it a model of what sustainability looks and feels like.” An important part of the Inn’s green design was to involve many local artists and artisans in its creation. As another guest described, “we felt like we were living in a work of art.” Honoring and including the local Coast Salish culture through the artistic and educational contributions of some of its people was part of our sustainable design.

Relax with a book and a cool or hot drink on your covered porch or by your fireplace, let your imagination take flight as you bird watch or stroll along the trails through our gardens and forest, play horseshoes, or just unwind in the hot tub or infra-red sauna. If you decide to go out, all the entertainment, culture, and unique restaurants and shops of Bellingham and Fairhaven are only a ten to fifteen minute drive.

Or head into Whatcom County where the slopes of Mt. Baker with remarkable hiking and skiing adventures are only an hour away. River sports, beautiful parks for walking and hiking, wineries, fruit picking, mountain and road biking, and lake swimming are only a few minutes away. Ocean beaches, harbors, parks, and boat & whale tours are within 15 minutes. Seattle, Vancouver BC and the San Juan Islands are a 90 minute drive, and there is a direct ferry to Victoria BC.

Whether you are seeking a romantic get-away, touring and exploring, or here for a business or family visit, we would be delighted to have you stay with us at Tree Frog Night Inn.
